Dear Horse Racing Lover,
Febuary and early March have been quite hectic
scheduled with New Zealand Yearling Sales where I purchased a Pentire-Wella Colt which you can see pictured above. For more information about the colt please click here
If you ever had dreams of owning a Melbourne Cup winner this colt has the pedigree and quality to be aimed for the classic staying events. He has recently arrived from New Zealand and has settled-in well. Watching him move
around the paddock confirms my opinion of him
in the sale ring. There has been quite some
interest in him and some shares are still
available.
We then had a trip to Hong Kong to celebrate Ben
Wong’s daughter’s (Eva) wedding –where we all had a great time. I was able to hand Ben the
winning tape on Fince the Tronics’s brilliant, allthe-
way 4 length win on Mornington Cup Day.
Fince the Tronics was named after a clothing
brand that Ben’s son, Vincent owned. I
mentioned to Ben, after his horse was beaten at
Sha Tin races, we would have some winners for
him on our return. Well we just missed with
Electronic Million at Sandown – getting pipped
right on the line and then Envisioning came up
with another 2nd but he is going extra well for
his jumping career.
We made it back into Australia –went straight
to the William Inglis Yearling Sales – where Tony
had purchased a lovely scopey filly by the New Danehill sire in Tiger Hill, for a group of stable
clients.
Fayrouz (who is part-owned by my wife, Deb)
had her Elvstroem filly go through the Sale and
purchased for $160,000 by rianMayfield-
Smith. She was a great type and Phillip
Campbell from Blue Gum Farm thought she
would have made the $200,000 mark. She has a
very nice Elvstroem colt on her which we may
syndicate next year and she is in foal to Elvstroem. |

Spectrum Blitz’s win at Cranbourne was
sensational. At the 1,000m mark I turned to
Helen and said he had no hope as he was tailing
the field. When Wayne Davis let him loose he
wipped around the field to hit the front and
then held off all challengers and the showcase
field was very strong. He has taken time to
mature but he looks a good stayer for the
future.
North Queen won very well at Bendigo to score
her first win. She jumped well then comped on
the leader and then sprinted away for a strong
win. She is another home breed and her
younger half sister, Hemmi Hussy, also shows
great potential with two seconds.
Sincerley,
Doug Harrison. |
